The Ultimate IPTV Glossary for Beginners

New to the world of IPTV? Confused by all the acronyms?
Here is a simple guide to understanding the most common terms used in our forum.
1. M3U Playlist
A text file format that contains a list of links to media files.
* **Usage:** You get an M3U URL from your provider (e.g., http://provider.com/get.php...) and paste it into apps like VLC or TiviMate.
2. Xtream Codes API
The most popular way to log in. Instead of a long link, you just need 3 things:
* **Server URL** (http://example.com:8080)
* **Username**
* **Password**
* Recommended for: IPTV Smarters, TiviMate, XCIPTV.
3. EPG (Electronic Program Guide)
This is the TV Guide. It shows you what is playing now and what is coming next on each channel. Without EPG, you only see channel names.
4. MAC Address
A unique code ID for your device (Example: 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX).
* **Important:** If you use a MAG Box or STB Emulator, you must send this code to your provider to activate your subscription.
5. VOD (Video On Demand)
This refers to the Movies and TV Series section of your subscription, similar to Netflix. You can watch these anytime (not live).
6. ISP Throttling
When your Internet Service Provider intentionally slows down your speed because they detect you are streaming.
* **Solution:** You need a VPN to hide your traffic.
